Dale Frank

Dale Frank - Ice Age, 2010

I went to see Dale Frank at Roslyn Oxley this weekend which blew my mind. His paintings are infinitely detailed you could look at them for minutes on end. He uses a method of pouring varnish that he has refined over the last few years. This has no relevance* to this weeks topic, it would be considered abstract expressionism I think? which is kind of like the opposite to pop art in many ways. I hope some of you got a chance to visit before it finished today, if not Roslyn Oxley is a good base for emerging/established contemporary artists in Sydney.

*As Amanda pointed out Pop Art is very relevant to Abstract Expressionism as it is a direct and opposite reaction to Abstract Expressionism.
