Monica Bonvicini was born in 1965. She is an installation artist who works with many different materials. Don't miss a sec (2003-2004) is a structure made from two-way glass that contains all the needs of a public toilet. It was placed in a well populated area public area, during a art show, this work deals with the ideas of the public and private spaces. Bonvicini's work is also making a statement on how busy major art showscan be, including the biennale, where there is a large amount to view and people to see/be seen by. Bonvicini has created this structure using two-way glass so that inside the structure the user can not be seen but can see out, so they can still use the facilities while viewing the art works and people outside.
"This work absurdly pushes at the limits of what is public and what is private and offers a performative element in which inside and outside are blurred together. " -Monica Bonvicini.
