Forest of Lines, 2008
Pierre Huyge
Pierre Huyge is a french artist who featured in the 2008 biennale. His work 'forest of lines' was installed at the opera house in the concert hall. The seats were removed and a forest 'grew' in their place, lit by a light mist and was open 24hrs. Hugye's aim was for people to find a relationship between the place where the public sit and how this has been overwhelmed by a forest. My personally, this comes across as a play on people's transparent relationship with nature, by putting an epic forest into a great performance space, it definitely explores geographical displacement, the relationship between the audience and stage in ecology and environment.
