Deformation: Jake and Dinos Chapman

The work by these artists seem very strange. They have a collection of sculptures in the MCA for the Biennale. These have been made out of cardboard and painted crudely. Crudely is an appropriate word to describe all of these bizarre little sculptures.
Many of their other works are appropriations of paintings by Goya, who created images of the grotesque. The artists seem to be aiming to create something humorous out of horrific scenes.
It appears that they get into media brawls over their confronting statements and artworks. They might be trying to challenge the pompus civility ingrained in some parts of British society.
Their works analyse religion, morality and politics. At the MCA many of there cardboard figures were performing sex or just naked and deformed. One work included a number of dinosaurs, one of which was being urinated on.
I wanted to post this to see what opinions everyone else had on their works, particularly those in the Biennale. I felt perplexed, but it was funny. It seemed to reflect that the world has gone to shit, so lets have some fun.

If there is a real explanation, I'd like to hear it from someone who felt they properly understood these works.

Did anyone else see that one of the wooden plinths was actually cardboard painted to look like wood? Do you know why? I couldn't think of a reason.
