Nathan Sawaya the "Brick Artist" is a new york based artist who works with lego bricks as his main medium. to many lego are just childhood toys but Sawaya extends his creativity with the bricks to create large-scale sculptures, playfully and beautifully, transforming them into something completely different and unexpected.
he often use humans physicality as his main subject, life size and real like, but in a very absurd way. many of his people pieces appear almost like supernatural being who can have fun with their features, almost human but not quite.
Sawaya also appears to be colour obsessive. legos are very vibrant and primary in its colour and Sawaya uses it to his favour. this also reduces the human likeness, making them appear like aliens with (commonly perceived as) perfect masculine body - friendly than scary.
more than 1.5million coloured lego bricks are stored in his NY studio!
